The Ethereum Wallet is a gateway to decentralized applications on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows you to hold and secure Ether (ETH) and other crypto assets built on Ethereum, as well as write, deploy and use smart contracts.
Step-1: Installing Ethereum wallet
The first step is to download and install the Ethereum Wallet application from Github at:
Mac OSX: Ethereum-Wallet-macosx-0-9-0.dmg
Linux 64 bit: Ethereum-Wallet-linux64-0-9-0.zip
Linux 32 bit: Ethereum-Wallet-linux32-0-9-0.zip
Step-2: Setting up Ethereum Wallet
After downloading and installing the Ethereum Wallet application, run the installed wallet application.
Select the option for “USE THE MAIN NETWORK”
Step-3: Synchronize with the Main Network
The synchronization process is lengthy and may take a while depending on the computing power. But, it will run in the background and you may continue with the setup.
Step-4: Create New Account
Skip, the step of wallet file option if you haven’t participated in the Ethereum Pre-sale 2014.
Provide a strong password that will be used to access your wallet.
Now, continue to your account and launch the application.
You need to wait until the downloading of blocks is finished and then “LAUNCH APPLICATION”.
Step 5: Save Your Public Address
You should be able to see your Public Address under “Main Account (Etherbase)”. And that will be all.
You have now created your Ethereum Blockchain address to store, send, and receive Ethers.
